Tallow

A rich, deeply moisturizing ingredient, tallow closely mimics the skin’s natural lipid structure, making it an excellent hydrator. It supports skin barrier repair, locks in moisture, and improves elasticity. Tallow is also packed with vitamins A, D, E, and K, which help maintain a healthy, glowing complexion.

Helichrysum

Known as the "everlasting flower," helichrysum is prized in botanical skincare for its regenerative properties. It supports visible skin recovery and helps calm redness and irritation.

Propolis

Propolis is the resin bees use to seal and defend the hive, rich in antioxidants and natural antimicrobial compounds. On skin, it works the same way it works in the hive — calming irritation and creating the right conditions for the skin to repair itself. It's especially suited to reactive, compromised, or barrier-stressed skin.

Chamomile

Chamomile brings its signature calming properties to both the tallow base and the essential oil in this formula. Gentle yet effective, it soothes irritation and reduces the appearance of redness, making it ideal for sensitive or reactive skin.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil

what is tallow?

Tallow is rendered beef fat. It might sound strange to apply beef fat all over your skin, but it has been used for centuries for skincare. It is highly moisturizing and mimics our own lipid profile, which is what makes it so effective. It's truly a magical ingredient!

what are the benefits of tallow?

Our skin is our largest organ and it absorbs everything we put on it! Tallow is high in Vitamins A, D, E, and K and it is also rich in Omega 3 and Omega 7 fatty acids. When applied topically, tallow offers long lasting hydration and has an anti-inflammatory/anti-microbial effect, which helps resolve inflammatory skin conditions (rosacea, acne, eczema) as well as soften fine lines and wrinkles. It is also non-comedogenic, so you don't have to worry about clogged pores.

Who should use tallow?

We may be biased, but we believe everyone can benefit from using tallow! Even though our balms may be formulated to target certain skin conditions, they are honestly effective for anyone who wants to support the health of their skin. People with rosacea, eczema, mature skin, chapped skin, tired skin, dry skin, and anyone looking to hydrate, protect, and heal their skin.

does tallow smell like beef?

Although unadulterated tallow can have a light beefy smell, we have taken great care to infuse our tallow with aromatic and effective essential oils that are safe for skin. Our products smell amazing and the scent lingers on you all day.

is tallow greasy?

Tallow is easily absorbed by our skin, so it does not leave a greasy residue. If you find it does, you may be using too much product! A little goes a long way.

I have oily skin, will tallow work for me?

Tallow can actually help regulate oil production and prevent excess sebum build up.

what is the consistency of your balms?

We use 100% natural ingredients with no fillers and the consistency of our balms can change based on the temperature. If it is cold, the balm can become a little hard and when it's warm, it will soften. You will find even when hard, that tallow immediately melts into your skin with very little effort.

Our Shower Hour features whipped tallow, which has a softer, silkier consistency. But, even whipped tallow will experience variations in texture based on the temperature. This is completely natural and does not alter the efficacy of any of our products.
